I entered the program in the fall of 2004 (along with Lacey and Bethany) as a member of Linfield’s final 4-year nursing cohort. I have a loving and very indulgent husband named Jeff who works as a civil commitment investigator for Washington County. It’s nice being married to a mental health professional, because when nursing school makes me crazy, he knows how to fix me. Failing that, he knows where the best psych units are!
I also have three grown children: Ryan is a senior software developer for Yahoo! Search in Santa Clara; Risa lives in Vancouver with her new husband Perin, and works as an accountant for his dad’s company; and Rustin is studying Farsi at PSU and works for an insurance wholesaler in Beaverton.
This is my second time through college; the first time I got a BS in electrical engineering from Texas A&M. Once my kids were all in school, I went to work in the computer industry doing computer repairs, then networking and user support, and finally database design and interactive Web application development.
My background in software development makes me really good at following nitpicky formatting rules, so APA style has become sort of my specialty here at the writing center.
